Heartcode Complete BLS

About Course

Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) BLS is a performance-based training program developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) in collaboration with Laerdal Medical. Its purpose is to improve and sustain high-quality CPR and basic life support skills among healthcare providers through frequent, short training cycles rather than traditional infrequent classroom courses.

Key Features:

  • Low-dose, high-frequency training: Instead of attending a long certification class every two years, learners complete shorter training and assessment sessions more frequently (e.g., quarterly).
  • Simulation-based practice: Training includes hands-on practice with RQI Simulation Stations (manikin technology providing real-time feedback on CPR quality including compression depth, rate, recoil, and ventilations).
  • Online cognitive components: Learners first engage in eLearning (interactive modules, videos, assessments) covering BLS knowledge.
  • Competency verification: Skills are assessed on the simulation station until performance meets AHA standards.
  • Performance tracking: Training data is recorded in a learning management system allowing individual and organizational tracking of performance and trends.

Purpose of RQI BLS: The program addresses rapid skill decay seen with traditional certification by reinforcing skills more often and measuring actual performance rather than just completing a course

Requirements
  • Hospital and clinical healthcare professionals (e.g.
  • nurses
  • physicians
  • physician assistants
  • EMTs/paramedics). Staff required by policy to maintain current BLS competence as part of clinical responsibilities. Facilities implementing RQI use this method instead of
  • or alongside
  • traditional instructor-led courses for initial certification and ongoing competency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AHA BLS certification valid in the UAE?
Yes. The course follows American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines and the BLS Provider card is recognised by hospitals and healthcare regulators across the UAE, including for DOH (Abu Dhabi), DHA (Dubai) and MOH licensing requirements.
How does the HeartCode BLS blended course work?
You complete the official AHA HeartCode BLS online course at your own pace, then attend a short hands-on skills session (about 15 minutes) with an AHA instructor at our Abu Dhabi centre. Your AHA BLS Provider card is issued after the skills check — typically the same day.
Who should take AHA BLS?
Nurses, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, paramedics, medical students and any healthcare provider who needs a current Basic Life Support certification for work or licensing in the UAE. It is also ideal for BLS renewal.
Where does the training take place?
Our training centre is at Addax Office Tower, Office 1105, Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi. We also run on-site group training for hospitals, clinics, schools and companies in Al Ain, Dubai and across the UAE.
